From May to October (up until the last day of the closing ceremony at Tungnath Temple), Porters and Ponies are only available in Chopta during the season. Due to the snow, there are no porters, Ponies, or horses during the winter.

The Chopta valley trek can be completed in about four to five days. There are a variety of places to stay in Chopta over the course of the four days.

First day:

On the first day of the trekking trip, you must travel approximately 7 hours to Kund from Haridwar.
